Friday afternoon we welcome our old friends and new faces to catch up, reconnect and support Keeping It Wild’s new initiatives. We will convene at The Outdoor Activity Center, hosted by West Atlanta Watershed Alliance.

Treetop Quest Adventure

This family friendly excursion to Treetop Quest brought community members of all ages out to explore the native trees that create the lush canopies of our state. Participants identifies various types of trees, and enjoyed the fresh air from the higher elevation.

iwi fresh Foraged Skincare

Foraging adventure to identify herb and other vegetation in the wild that can be utilized as aromatherapy and skincare. The freshly foraged findings will be utilized to create DIY Skincare products such as Foraged-to-Face masks participants used for veggie facials at iwi fresh Spa.  

Apple Picking

Keeping It Wild takes an annual trip to Elijay, Georgia for a fun filled day of apple picking at BJ Reese Orchards! The entire family is welcome to explore 120 acres of apples, 30 acres of peaches, and 30 acres of vegetables!

GA Roots Farm Volunteer Day

We kept it wild at a local urban farm in metro Atlanta. Participants volunteered around GA Roots Farm performing tasks, identifying seasonal crops, and pick crops to take home to prepare for meals.  

Proctor Creek Clean Up

Our wild participants walked along Proctor Creek to remove litter and other items. We partnered with West Atlanta Watershed Alliance to test the water quality as well. Participants logged and recorded the types of wildlife spotted during the adventure!

Great American Backyard Campout

The Great American Backyard. Campout takes place in a 26 - acre old growth forest in the heart of Atlanta. Families and community members, and partner organization join West Atlanta Watershed Alliance for this annual, overnight urban getaway.

The Keeping It Wild hikes and outings program provides opportunities for visiting local, state and national parks, exploring Georgia’s rivers through snorkeling, rafting, and canoeing, as well as hiking, backpacking, and camping in some of the Southeast’s wildest places.
